beancounter 6
I currently have a multi-device licence with 9.0.349 installed on 5x Win7 PRO PCs and 3.2.4 on 4xAndroid devices. I plan to blow away WIN7 on one of the PCs and install Linux (probably Ubuntu) in its place. Will I have to uninstall the Windows version of ESET before I blow away WIN7 on the PC and will the latest Linux expect the Version 9 licence details or the details that applied to the earlier versions? ESET Staff Gonzalo Alvarez 66 Posted January 11, 2016 ESET Staff Share Posted January 11, 2016 Hi @beancounter, You can uninstall ESET from the Windows version and later after install Linux, download, install and activate the ESET product for that OS. The product for Linux is different from the Windows one, be advice.
rugk 397
Will I have to uninstall the Windows version of ESET before I blow away WIN7 Technically it does of course not matter, because you set up the whole OS, but I think I know what you're asking: Whether this is a license issue. And AFAIK it is not. Even a dual-boot version would be okay - the only thing you must not do is running too much (= more than included in your license) versions of ESS simultaneously. That said it obviously does not hurt to uninstall the Windows versions before. will the latest Linux expect the Version 9 licence details or the details that applied to the earlier versions? It does only accept the old license details (username/password), because the Linux version is quite old. Also note that there is no ESS for Linux, but only NOD32. beancounter 6
Thanks. My initial concerns were, of course, licensing issues. I am going to look at the technical issues next
