egui stops updating and consumes CPU when connected via remote desktop (WinXP)

Recommended Posts

I'm using ESET Smart Security 6.0.316.0 on WinXP. Sometimes when I connect to this PC from another location via remote desktop, then egui.exe starts consuming CPU, and also the GUI stops updating. Update notifications, scan options, etc. are not displayed at all, and require restart of the PC. This happens once every few connects via the remote desktop.

It would be of great help to attach at least SysInspector's log (hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2219)...

PerfMon would also be a good info...

Did you try to disable graphical interface just to get machine working:

Setup -> Enter Advanced setup -> User Interface -> Graphics -> [_] Graphical user interface
