Jono 0 Posted November 30, 2015 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Hello, My beta license has expired for the ESET Smart Security V9 Beta, version 9.0.141.0. I'm on Windows 10 and I cannot uninstall due to the error that I receive during the uninstallation process: "ekrn service could not be stopped" ... "check if you have the privelleges", etc. I've tried uninstalling in safe mode but it does not work, i'm still prompted with the same error. The beta was fine up until needing to remove it. Before using the ESET Uninstall Tool, I rebooted into safe mode and disabled "Self-Defense", located in HIPS tab in the Advanced Settings options. It took me a little while to find it but I did find it. I also disabled a few other boot-up settings but after doing this and rebooting into safe mode, I was finally able to remove ESET Smart Security V9 without using Uninstall Tool.
