Antivirus for WordPress websites

I'm considering converting my wife's website over to WordPress but have been reading that WP sites are easy to hack/infiltrate. There is a company named Sucuri (https://sucuri.net/website-antivirus/)%C2'> makes an antivirus to protect WP websites.

Is this website protection any good/a good idea? Does it cause website slowdown/downtime?

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Is this something ESET could offer in the future?

I would go with ESET over anyone else for security and protection.

Hi @PPQ,

I'm considering converting my wife's website over to WordPress but have been reading that WP sites are easy to hack/infiltrate.

One of the big issue is the users are users, don't do/know how to improve security in WordPress or his own site after install an application.

They just install and use it.

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Yes, I have. In my opinion there are 2 main factors here.

At one level, the protection will be at Server one, that's means usually your hosting company (for his own safety) will protect his own machines (at low, good, high or something level). In the case you are a client paying by a space within the server you can't do a bit.

At second, what you put into your hosted space is good to have protected by a good configuration. That's means you have to (after the install) setup to be use and also setup to make safe/secure.

A little reminder, there is no 100% secure thing. What you can do is short down the probability of been infected/hacked.

Is this something ESET could offer in the future?

ESET Staff should reply that.

Good choice. :)

Related to secure a website, you will find some online tools to test your website and see how good is security or what holes you have...

Again, is you are a client of a hosting company (like LiquidWeb, etc) you cannot install anything, because you don't own the servers to do that.

However, perhaps the hosting company will offer a more secure option by a price or a backup solution.

They rent the space with a limited service capability, what happens there is your "own" responsibility.

If your blog get hacked, well just delete, restore the backup and improve configuration in order to be more secure (less potentially hacked).

=>>>> Always, always have backup! ;)
