Excel 2016 slow to close Eset 9

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I just noticed that version 9 of NOD32 antivirus has issues with Excel 2016 365.

Excel files are slow to close.

I disabled ESET and all went well.

I don't know what causses the slow shutdown of excel. I tried to disable some scan ON features but to no avail.

Does someone know the reason and is there a fix?

Hi @Zardoc,

Can you tell us Operating system, bits and ram you have on the pc with the problem.

Also, I suggest you disable temporary 1 by 1 the modules of ESET NOD32 Antivirus in the "Configuration" menu

and open and close an excel file.

This will narrow what module is causing the problem.

Fix, solved. ;)

2, Temporarily disable Self-defense and restart the computer
3, Rename the files (e.g. rename the extension to .sys_)
C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Drivers\eamonm\eamonm.sys
4, copy the new version of the module to both folders
5, re-enable Self-defense
6, restart the computer
Finally try to reproduce the issue. We assume that the new driver should address this issue.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please temporarily downgrade to v8 until a new service build of v9 addressing the issue is ready. We've just found out that merely replacing the driver does not suffice and due to dependencies between drivers and dlls real-time protection would not work.
