ESET Insiders TJP 143 Posted September 17, 2015 ESET Insiders Share Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) So...are these tests really 'real world' given many of the AV companies have teams dedicated to passing these tests with the highest detection rates. SweX 871
I believe the test methodology is referred to as "real-world" in the sense that they try to "mimic" (or how to put it) a real world usage situation, IIRC. But mimic a real world situation to 100% is impossible, though I think they do a fairly good job trying to make that happen. Yeah, wasn't it Eugene Kaspersky that wrote about it, or was it someone else? I don't remember - quite a long time has past since I read about that. ESET Insiders TJP 143 Posted September 18, 2015 ESET Insiders Share Posted September 18, 2015 Kaspersky Labs through Eugene stated they have a team dedicated to passing AV tests and likely the same for many AV vendors. Marketing and public perception wins out.
