Process Crash in esets_proxy 5.0.110

Guest Nick

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the update. I've applied the esets_proxy and esets_pfw in the documented locations and updated the permissions as described.

For the two crashes that I have had, I can echo with the other users that I too was actively using a Chrome window when the panic suddenly occurred in esets_proxy. If I crash again, I'll send a new error report.

I am having the same problem and it seems to me that eset should refund my money.  Your "solution" is completely incomprehensible and your inability to recognize the problem is infuriating.  I am going to uninstall it from my three Macs, ask for my money back (good luck), and get a different product.

Hello Tom Wicker,

I am really sorry that you have such negative experience, but we already have a solution.

After replacing the binaries nobody had the issue again.

Finding a solution may be extremely difficult in such circumstances as far as we were not able to reproduce the issue in-house although we were trying hard to do so.

Could you please do the stems that I described earlier in this thread and share the results with us?

Thank you very much for cooperation.

I, too, have been system dumping multiple times and it looks like its related to Chrome like state in prior posts.  I have followed the instructions above minus the proxy update.  Is there any fix yet?

Sorry, I followed the proxy update but check the Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports directory and found daemon crashes like the one attached-- I have had about 5 crashes since updating the proxy

Hello,

According to Dev team after applying this fix there shouldn't be any crashes, but we are not able to replicate the issue in-house so we need your help to verify it.

1. Backup the original files ( esets_pfw and esets_proxy)

esets_pfw with this command sudo cp /Applications/.esets/Contents/kext/10.6/esets_pfw.kext/Contents/MacOS/esets_pfw /Applications/.esets/Contents/kext/10.6/esets_pfw.kext/Contents/MacOS/esets_pfw.bkp

esets_proxy with this command sudo  cp /Applications/.esets/Contents/MacOS/esets_proxy /Applications/.esets/Contents/MacOS/esets_proxy.bkp

2. Download the archive, and unpack (password is "clean")

copy (via command line) esets_pfw to /Applications/.esets/Contents/kext/10.6/esets_pfw.kext/Contents/MacOS/esets_pfw

copy (via command line) esets_proxy to /Applications/.esets/Contents/MacOS/esets_proxy

3. Execute commands:

sudo chown root:wheel /Applications/.esets/Contents/kext/10.6/esets_pfw.kext/Contents/MacOS/esets_pfw

sudo chmod 755 /Applications/.esets/Contents/kext/10.6/esets_pfw.kext/Contents/MacOS/esets_pfw

4. Restart the Mac

The crashes shouldn't appear anymore. Please keep us informed.

Thank you.

This isn't correct for 10.8 - directory paths are different

Hello,

could you please provide us with output of enclosed Info_get script?

Please collect the logs immediately after the crash.

Thank you for cooperation.

Hey Peter,

I'm having the same issues everyone else seems to be having. Here's the original crash report: hxxp://pastebin.com/2nBxGXw8. And here is the output from the info_get script you posted: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3274947/customer_info.zip.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello Itrain,

so what happens when you replace the binaries in their correct paths?

What paths do you have there?

no O/S crash, just seems increased resources as my fan comes on more frequently.

Applications/.esets/Contents/MacOs   and in there is esets_proxy and esets_pfw
