Should "scan network drive" be disabled if file server already has anti-virus?

We have ESET File Security running on our file server which our workstations map to. Is it safe to assume that the "scan network drive" option on each individual workstation's ESET Smart Security can be therefore disabled, because the file server would have caught any viruses that are attempted to be saved at these locations?

Thanks.

Is it slowing down the system? If not, leave scanning of network drives on clients enabled. It's useful as advanced heuristics is not enabled on file access but on file execution.

Wouldn't having hundreds of endpoints with mapped network drives start working in the morning all at once kill the file server?
