Please carry on as follows:

- delete all custom rules

- clear your firewall log

- switch to learning mode

- check if the problem persists.

If that fixes the issue, export your configuration and send it to me via a pm.

I had the same issue with the final RTM release of Windows 10 but fixed the problem.

With Eset installed - Uninstall with Eset's Uninstall tool hxxp://download.eset.com/special/ESETUninstaller.exe  You will need to go into safe mode to use the tool.

Then download the latest beta and it should work. I presume using the general windows uninstaller is leaving some old files that are incompatible.

If this hasn't been resolved internally yet, @marcos please check your PM its still not shown as read.

The problem is making ti so no application based firewall works. Luckily I have an advanced hardware firewall between my WAN and LAN but this is still an issue for outgoing connections. Windows Firewall will not register even with ESET firewall disabled.

Well, I, for one, am glad to see that this issue is receiving the attention it deserves.

Perhaps someone at ESET will grasp my use of irony and sarcasm...?

This is pretty ridiculous.  These are major problems and the pace and volume of responses to these issues is pitiful.

I have, individually, been a user of ESET products for many years and have brought almost all of my family and friends to use ESET's products.

As an IT professional, I have migrated multiple companies to ESET's products over those years which has certainly had a positive impact on ESET's revenues.

Not to say that ESET would go bankrupt without my business, but the way this "beta" (should probably still be in alpha) program is being run is extremely disappointing and undermines the confidence that I have had in ESET's products.

This forum is like an echo chamber and I sense that many of those who have been truly trying to test and report have lost interest due to the lack of response and updates that resolve the issues which have been reported.

This can't possibly be the intent.  Is the case that the ESET moderators in this forum simply have their hands tied by their employer that refuses to address the problems?  Or is it that the moderators aren't sharing the problem reports with their employer so that the development team can attempt to address the problems?

I'm frustrated and confused by the overall execution of this beta program.  I have already been forced to use another company's firewall program because there have been no solutions provided and there had been no indication when or if a solution may be provided.

Windows 10 RTM has been out for nearly a month and ESET still has no working product.  Is management not concerned with the threat to market-share that this creates?

Meanwhile, I keep wasting my own personal time checking back on a regular basis only to find that nothing has been done and no relavant information has been given.

If I this situation doesn't change very soon, I'm moving on and not looking back.  Historically, ESET has provided a good product which is why I have been such a staunch supporter but troubles like this indicate mismanagement that likely could effect the quality of the product delivered for a long time to come.

If I have misunderstood something, feel free to inform me.

That's indeed true and we treat this issue with high priority. Unfortunately, it occurs only on some systems with Windows 10 and it's unreproducible on any of the computers in our environment. What would help us is an image of VM from the state before upgrade to Windows 10 so that we could check what's going on during the upgrade. Microsoft had an issue with installation of network filters in one of the previous builds of Windows 10 so at this point we cannot rule out that it's a similar one that hasn't been fixed yet.

Removing Epfw Lightweight filter from your LAN settings and reinstalling ESS should work. If you want to avoid reinstallation, install epfwlwf.sys from C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Drivers\epfwlwf manually.

Is it maybe related to the fact your on the EDU version? Might be different to the general version

If you like Eset then why not just use the current stable version. Beta's are always going to be buggy and maybe some of the issues haven't been addressed yet but from my experience Eset has never released a new version till it's ready

That seems very unlikely to me. I had Win10 Pro before, and then upgraded to the EDU through a dreamspark ISO. From what I can tell, there shouldnt be any changes to the network adapters or filters between the two The issue persisted through the upgrade. @Marcos, how would I go about disabling the lightweight filter in LAN Settings?

I also have this issue running Eset smart security version 9.0.381.0 on Windows 10 Pro RTM Build 10586.318. I have tried the uninstall/Re-instal in safe mode to no avail the problems remain firewall, IDS and botnet all non functional.  Come on eset bang heads with MS and get this sorted, I pay good money for software that is flailing at best.

  • 2 weeks later...

My company is having this issue as well. What appears to be random for different Users, Different OS's. Windows 7, and Windows 10 Pro 1151 release, all production computers, not betas not RTM's.

So has anyone found a solid reason why this is happening or a potential long term fix? Running around to a hundred computers and reinstalling the software or even running it through the Remote Admin is not my idea of a solution. This is something ESET needs to figure out and fix.

I have been using ESET in our company effectively for about 3 years and am relatively happy with the product, but I have began looking into other solutions, this has become an issue for us and I am losing confidence in the product. This and the new Remote Administrator is a steming pile of pooooo.
