"Failed to Change Settings" after update

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon everyone,

My version of ESET Smart Security 8 updated last night and since the update, I have been getting this error when I try to change anything:

"Failed to Change Settings"

Every setting I try and change (Firewall Mode, Anti-Stealth, anything) comes up with this error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling ESS multipul times, have run the automatic ESS remover, all to no avail. I have also attempted to disable anti-tampering to no avail.

It seems, however, that when it comes up with that error, it does actually make the change except for when creating a firewall rule.

OS: Windows 8.1 x64

Account Type: Single Account connected to a Microsoft Account. Do connect remotly to the computer via teamviewer.

Any idea what could be causing it?

Thanks,

Karl

We'd need to check a Process monitor log from that situation. Perhaps the best course of action would be contacting Customer care.
