ERA install using MS SQL Server

Hi all,

 

Trying to install ERA 5 using an external MS SQL database server. I could get away with using the express version but we already have SQL installed on another host and I would like to keep all of it in one spot if I can. At the Database server screen in the Advanced install mode when testing the connection I always get

 

Connection failed... Operation: [DriverConnect] Native: [0x0] State: [iM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

 

This is on a 2008 R2 64 bit server with nothing else installed except updates. SQL server is in the same network and tcp 1433 is open on the DB server.

 

I'm sure this is something simple but I can't figure it out.

Update: I have to be missing something simple, I get the same error on a typical install as well now.
