Error 1603 on Windows Server 2012 Standard

Recommended Posts

This is occurring on 2 servers that previously had AVG installed.

The 2nd server is a standard 2012 Server, 64 bit, Java 8.0.400, SQL express 2012.

AVG was uninstalled and the machine rebooted before commencing ESET remote administrator install.

All proceeded well until the exact same error was presented and installation ceased.

I was able to see that the error was thrown in the early stages of installing  “Remote Administrator Agent”, the “Remote Administrator Server” did complete correctly.

Advice please.

Hello, I had the same problem - Error Code 1603.

I had to install the rest of the components manually.

Please contact Peter Randziak via PM and send him packed "logs" directory.

Error 1603 is very general MSI error, I am afraid there will be no solution for everyone with this error. MSI log should tell us more.

Hello, I also received this error when attempting to install ERA on Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. Error Code 1603. There was another error message that referenced the KB Solution ID: SOLN406 which seems unrelated.

Just to give an update on my particular situation.

After speaking with Business Support (spent 2 hours on hold), they informed me that when you choose to use SQL Server on a separate machine/vm, you must create separate instance and database for the Remote Administration Server to work properly.

I had similar experience when installing ERA All in one installer (6.3) x64 on Windows Server 2012 r2. Installation crashed during the Agent installation. I was installing from a shared directory. After the installation failed, I copied files to local folder, installed rest of the components separately (manually), then ERA was working properly.
