Smart security made win 7 firewall unusable

Since I upgraded from NOD 32 to Smart Security my Win 7 Firewall stopped working. For my reasons I want to use it, so I uninstalled Smart Security in order to install NOD 32 again. The problem is that with no antivirus installed, my firewall is still unusable. I tried starting the service manually but it will not start due to a conflict with smart security (which is not present). I would welcome all help

The latest version with support for Windows 7 was v16.0 which is currently in limited support. What ESET product and version do you have installed? Is it ESET Smart Security Premium 16.0.27?

I had Smart Security v.16.0.xx but now I've rolled back to NOD 32 v. 16.0.26. But still when I try to turn on the windows firewall I get a message about a problem with the smart security snap in.

Could you please elaborate more on the statement "Win 7 Firewall stopped working"? Is ESET reporting an error related to the firewall? Installing ESET Internet Security or ESET Smart Security Premium will turn off the Windows firewall.

As I mentioned in my initia post, although I uninstalled smart security I cannot turn the windows firewall on.

I've reset both the TCP-IP stack and the winsock catalog but I still cannot turn the firewall on
