Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Hello, I purchased two box of Eset Internet Security as usual year. I went to activate my second one and it says expired. Yet the website doesn't recognise it as expired or ask me a renew possibility like my old one. Tried via the website, tried via the ESET software and no bueno. I never had this issue with all the purchased box of the product I did at this store over the years. I still have the receipt, I still have both activate at cashier key at the bottom of the box AND the CARDBOARD showing the license of the not activated one. Both purchased in Canada, activation attempt in Canada too, first one activated fine last year but the second one it won't. Like if the store deactivated with ESET the copy despite being activated fine at cashier as shown on the receipt? What are my possible solution to get this ESET internet Security 5 user 1 year to work again? I emailed support too but no answer. Thanks! Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 As the website says "Register key - cannot activate register key because register key is assigned to expired batch!" Why would ESET and Staples Canada disable keys from being activated WHILE ALL SOLD KEYS ARE HAVING THE YELLOW BARCODE SCANNED AT CASHIER anyway? I cannot activate my key due to this apparently. Really annoying Quote
Administrators Marcos 5,468 Posted November 3 Administrators Posted November 3 If you have purchased the boxed version recently, please contact the seller who should provide you with a fresh activation key if the one on the box has expired in the mean time. If you purchased it years ago, then activation won't be possible. Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 it was purchased 1 year ago. it wouldn't make any sense of making not activable only after a year. Quote

Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Cashier says no directors are at the store to fix this so all it is are cashiers or associates that won't be any help. Eset tells me to contact staples, staples tells me to contact eset. Quote
itman 1,807 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 See if this method will work for you: https://www.eset.com/us/support/activate/ . Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Sadly this method won't work. It says it's part of a deactivated batch. Like if they deactivated all keys staples had including those sold anyway despite being listed as sold via the yellow sticker under the software box. I have the receipt that clearly prove it was scanned at cashier to validate the key, (the method to ensure keys aren't stolen before they are sold, just like gift cards . So they screwed up everyone who has a key waiting to be activated. Quote

The other possibility is this is some type of promo offer since you stated a two box set. The two license keys were linked together such that when you activated one license, it activated the other license. Again, your only recourse here is Staples since this is where you purchased the boxed licenses from. Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Nah, i purchased two individual boxes. Always did that. They had their own cashier code and also individual activation code. As stated, staples are no use in store, it's thr classic case of referring me to eset then eset tell me to contact staples. Quote
Administrators Marcos 5,468 Posted November 3 Administrators Posted November 3 The Staples licenses that yours with PLID 3A9-D4A-3WA was part of expired on June 30, 2024. I assume it should be possible to provide a new one only if you purchased the box shortly before or after this date. Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 I always purchased two box used one right away and kept the other one the year after. I'm pretty sure with customers protection laws it wouldn't be authorized to randomly invalidate a sold unactivated key without any prior statement. And should be able to provide a replacement. Which is staples forward me this to eset. Quote

They could have acquired the boxed versions from a bulk third party reseller. The only one who really knows the situation for sure is Eset's Canadian subsidiary. If they deny supplying these boxed versions to Staples for sale by them, again your resolution lies with Staples. By the way, did you inspect the box CD labeling or for an license key insert with an expiration date? Edited November 4 by itman Quote
Evanescence 0 Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 (edited) Hello, No, the insert does not have an expiration date. Therefore it should still legally be available for activation. Staples canada store validate the keys directly at the cashier via the barcode on the yellow label so they can be available to activate and I have all the proofs of that. It wouldn't be this case if the store got them from a reseller. The validation via the yellow barcode as for antithief is a clear proof the store literally sell them from eset canada. Otherwise it wouldn't be like that. I'd expect eset canada here to resolve this. Thanks Edited November 4 by Evanescence Quote

Appears Eset Canada English language support is handled by Eset U.S. subsidiary: https://www.eset.com/us/ . If you mouse click on the "Support" icon at the top of the web page, you can initiate a Live Chat session with them. Edited November 4 by itman Quote
Swamp Yankee 8 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Yes, ESET Activation Codes do have a 'shelf life' and will expire, Boxed or Downloaded. I just went thru this last year, Feb 2023, with 2 Boxed products I purchased thru Newegg. I no longer do that, I no longer hoard codes. I buy one at a time on sale within a reasonable amount of time before my license is about to expire, since one sitting around for say 12+ months most likely will expire on you. Does yours come back with an ACT Error?, mine was an ACT.6 Error. And as stated by @itman you need to start a Support Case thru 'Live Chat' as ESET no longer supports Home Products thru email. "Thank you for contacting ESET Technical Support. Support for our consumer line of products has transitioned to chat to provide the quickest response possible to your questions." My Chat subject line was "New Unused Activation Key comes back as ACT.6" Have all relevant info ready, like the code in the box that won't activate, they will issue you a new Activation Code, they did for me, it took 3 days. Administrators Marcos 5,468 Posted November 5 Administrators Posted November 5 I've already reached out to ESET LLC to take care of this case and possibly extend the lifetime of the activation code on these particular boxes sold through Staples. garioch7 1 Quote

It must be a new thing as it was never that. I used to buy even 3 boxes before lol. And if they have shelf life expiration, it should be fully disclosed in my province which this box never did. Quote
Administrators Marcos 5,468 Posted November 5 Administrators Posted November 5 I've received a reply from ESET LLC: Customers usually just contact us and we give them a new key. Please can contact us via https://helpus.eset.com/ or 18663433738 (Option 2, then 1). garioch7 1 Quote
