Recommended Laptop Specifications for Running ESET Endpoint Security Optimally

Recommended Posts

Hello ESET team,

I’m using ESET Endpoint Security in an office environment with various laptop types, including lower-spec devices (HDD, 4/8GB RAM, i3/i5 CPU. However, we’re experiencing performance issues, especially on laptops with HDDs and older devices. When the scheduled scans start, disk utilization can reach 100%, causing the laptops to freeze and slow down significantly.

My questions are:

  1. What are the minimum and recommended optimal specifications to run ESET Endpoint Security without overloading the device?
  2. Are there any configuration settings recommended for HDD-based devices to make the scanning process lighter, or is SSD usage advisable?
  3. Are there any additional configuration options for older devices that could help with performance?

Scheduled scans are run with low priority by default:

With this setting, other processes running with normal or higher priority will get more CPU resources.

System requirements are listed in the help:

However, we have already implemented this setting, and we are still experiencing significant performance issues, particularly with our lower-spec laptops.
Could you please provide the recommended optimal specifications for running ESET Endpoint Security?

There are only minimum system specifications. Scheduled scans should be run when the system is idle. Especially one-core CPUs will always have performance issues during scans as there is no free CPU core for other tasks.
