AMbit 1 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 So, ESET will not track location for a device unless it's marked as missing. However, at least for laptops, when you mark it as missing, it prohibits access to all accounts except the phantom account. For an Android device, is it possible to track its location without any other restrictions taking effect on that device (i.e. it looks and works like normal)?
Administrators Marcos 5,739 Posted October 20, 2024 Administrators Posted October 20, 2024 ESET Anti-theft sends the location of a device marked as missing. We don't have a product that continually tracks devices. garioch7 1
AMbit 1 Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 I'm not looking for it to continually track a device. I want it only to track on demand - but I want the ability to track a device without doing anything else to the device. Let's look at this from a different perspective. As I mentioned earlier, for a Windows laptop, when marking it as missing, it prohibits access to all accounts except the phantom account. If I mark an Android device as missing, other than the sending out of tracking data, what else happens to the android device in question? Does it operate like normal or are there restrictions or changes of behavior that occur (like the Windows laptop)?
Administrators Marcos 5,739 Posted October 20, 2024 Administrators Posted October 20, 2024 The mobile phone gets locked if marked as missing or if the SIM card is removed: https://help.eset.com/ems/10/en-US/antitheft.html. It also takes a photo which you can view then in the Anti-theft portal.
