Guest Andy B
Dear team, I have been using third-party firewalls for many years alongside with NOD32. Recently, I upgraded to Internet Security as I am getting the hang of Eset's firewall policy-based mode. Went for a clean install of Win11Pro (latest 24H2 update), with no MS account sign in etc., which means from that point on MS Windows is finalised without internet access. Tweaked various Win settings etc. One of the first programs to install was ESET's Internet Security for an offline installation. I set up in Eset's Firewall a simple policy-based mode to ask for all outgoing connections. I was ready for it to work. However, once I connected to the internet, there was a about a 5-minute or so gap for ESET's Firewall to initialise. And thus any outgoing connection from various Windows services could take place. I'd like to avoid this scenario of outbound internet access for the next fresh installation of Windows. May I please ask how do I best go about blocking all outbound connections (and perhaps whitelist Eset's Internet Security) whilst the firewall does its thing to first initialise itself. I presume I'd need to use the stock Windows firewall to block all outgoing connections except the relevant ESET ones. If I'm correct, then please let me know which .exe programs I'd need to whitelist. Thanks for your help! Cheers, Andy B Quote Link to comment
Administrators Marcos 5,397 Posted October 14 Administrators Share Posted October 14 ESET has always the network communication allowed by the ESET firewall. You did not mention if you disabled all default (built-in) rules. I'd recommend using learning mode and then adjusting the rules that were created automatically. Alternatively you can check the list of recently blocked communications (Resolve blocked communication) and allow the desired ones. Quote Link to comment
