Cyber Security vs Cyber Security Pro is big difference!

ESET leaves use unsupported with the recent released MacOS 15. The solution downgrade from Cyber Security Pro (CSP) to Cyber Security (CS).

At the same time being unable to use two third of the functionality of CSP. No news on future plans for updates.

CS is in some way comparable but lacks insights and features that are only supported by admin account. No option to add privileges to normal users. See functionality and privilege item in attached picture.

Every well being computer user works on a normal account to prevent unwanted changes at any point. But no insight in log-files and running scheduled scans etc. is bizar.

I was reasonable appreciating ESET as security solution but CS is simple to primitive, time for change unfortunately.

I can imagine that I'm not the only one with this type of feelings. And, expressing these to our local (NL) ESET support desk results in we do no know the plans, sorry but you can use CS... Not satisfying at all. Some you should start a survey about satisfaction and expectations.

With regret, this probably means goodbye.

ESET CyberSecurity v8 with a firewall should be released this month. Device Control and Web Control will be added in 2025.

Also please provide the ticket ID so that we can review how the ticket was handled. Our aim is to provide quality support to our customers. If the local technical support is unable to help, they should contact ESET HQ for assistance.

And almost the most important missing functionality: privilege item so I can make a normal user admin for ESET so he/I can observe logs etc. as normal user. And, show in menubar icon scanning activity. Now a normal user sees nothing.

The CSP functions missing in CS (and thereby making ESET CS a lesser choice):

  1. Give no-admin user via privilege function (CSP) admin rights
  2. Give no-admin user insight in log, especially about scheduled scans executed and events
  3. Give insight via menubar icon when a scan is running or threat detected

A no-admin user has hardly any insight in any part of the working of ESET. Common practice, at least over here, is that for normal use, users do not have admin rights, even when they are the owner. We use dedicated user account fort his. As a consequence, in case you want to check the logs of ESET CS you need to change account over and over again. This is truly time inefficiency.

What is are the update plans for CSP for the coming months or year?

The plan is to add Device Control, Web Control and SSL filtering next year.

Privileged users from V6 was replaced by more understandable approach: every system admin is power user in the product. We change it because we had a lot of user requests to make it more simpler, they did not know how to use privileged user correctly. You are one of few, that likes the concept of privilege users.

Why some action are not available to non-admin user, e.g. seeing logs, is because of security, if we allow it, normal user could see informations about files that are not normally visible for them in OS file system.

So @Robertos, The knowledgeable must suffer for the ignorant. Why can't the knowledgeable decide for themselves to what extent a normal user gets certain rights. Look at Apple's preferences, an admin can always release a function for admin use. In short, a bad argument. In addition to the many errors (e.g. still no working context-dependent services) and poor maintenance in the app, and all the more reason to wonder whether this product is the right product.

I'm afraid that there will be another meaningless answer and that nothing will be done with the actual question.

Regards, Ronald.

A.D.: for this  system admin as power user you have to logout, en login as admin again... then logout and login as normal user. Sounds like thoughtful approach. Yes this kind of  thoughtless approaches irritates me, especially when it comes to a paid product/services.
