LouisH 0
Good day, We updated some of our computers to 11.1.2052.0 endpoint security on the Eset Protection Platform. Eset uninstalled the old one and could not reinstall the new version. The error on Eset Protection Platfor show task failed please try to install manually. When we try to reinstall mannauly we get an the installation was not successfull error, 30 computers are giving this error MSI.1714 We ran Eset uninstaller tool in safe mode and uninstalled all eset products and restarted the computers and it seems to works However we have multiple remote sites with no IT Employees. Is there anyway to do this remotely ? We are currently at a massive risk. Regards, Please find attached
Administrators Marcos 5,277 Posted September 30 Administrators Share Posted September 30 Please provide logs collected with ESET Log Collector from the machine in question for a start. Don't you use an auto-update policy to update Endpoint automatically after a computer restart? If some of the machines with Endpoint are not managed, are auto-updates enabled in the advanced update setup?
LouisH 0
HI Marco, Please find the attachedELC_logs.zip Yes we give the option for the user to reboot withing 3 hours. Regards
Administrators Marcos 5,277 Posted September 30 Administrators Share Posted September 30 It looks like the original installer \\cgXXXXXp1\Public\Programs\Eset\ECA\GPO Install\ees_nt64_full.msi is not available and was not found in "C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Security\Installer" either. The question is why you are using an all-in-one installer to upgrade Endpoint. Using the auto-update feature or policy, upgrade to newer versions is seamless as the product doesn't uninstall completely and upgrade to a newer version is performed after a reboot. LouisH 0
Hi Marco, i Trust you are well. When we upgrade we do the following Select the Blue section and select update. and then select "update installed eset product" We then select the computers to update. Please check in the earlier logs as i ran the update via EPP first and then tried to do it manually. PLease find attached the screenshots
Administrators Marcos 5,277 Posted September 30 Administrators Share Posted September 30 Actually the best and seamless way how to upgrade the ESET security products is by using the auto-update policy which is enabled by default for Endpoint: There you can also control the maximum version that Endpoint is allowed to update automatically. These automatic updates are seamless. Compared to pushing an installer, they offer many advantages: a minimal amount of data is downloaded, the product is not completely uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch, and the update is applied after the next reboot.
