"Device" names are out of date in EBA

Recommended Posts

I logged in to EBA (haven't logged in there for a long time) and I noticed that some device names are VERY VERY old. We changed device naming about 2 years ago and some are not updated. There are lots of computers with "DESKTOP-xxxxxxx" names and "LAPTOP-xxxxxxx", also additional two with PCxxx (where xxx is a number). We don't use that naming schemes anymore. I also see 3 computers with the same name "DESKTOP-QK2T299" and each is activated with different last seen date. We use ESET Protect On-Prem and i see correct names there.

Licence ID is 3AJ-WM9-V2H

Are you saying that the computer name in the Device column is not updated? Asking to make sure that you didn't confuse it with the seat name which can be edited only manually in EBA:

Please raise a support ticket as further investigation is needed. It could be that the security product didn't detect the change and or it did not propagate to the licensing servers.

@Marcos I talked with support and they said that "Device" name is read from system when ESET is activated and is not later updated at all. One need to deactivate and reactivate a PC for a new name to show up.

Please contact your local support and inform them that ESET HQ recommends raising a ticket for ESET HQ support. We assume that the security product is not sending an updated device name to ESET’s licensing servers for an unknown reason, so further investigation will be needed.

There was a post by "Iveta_Svisti" but is now deleted. It said:

Hi @kapela86 we've noted several similar requests and have already created an improvement for issue you are mentioning. Our internal teams will look into it based on the assigned priority.

So I'm kinda confused about this whole situation.

Yes, we have clarified he statement and she removed the post then. The best course of action will be to contact your local distributor who should then create a ticket for ESET HQ support for assistance with further troubleshooting.
