unable to assign exclusions directly to hosts

Maybe I'm just missing something but I'm not able to assign exclusions to hosts in ESET PROTECT (on-prem), only groups. If I try assign an exclusions to a host, it saves but then a few hours later it seems to just remove the assignment. Can exclusions only be assigned to groups and not directly to specific hosts?
