avielc 56 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) Hi Dear staff, I just received word on the newly released V8 that was expected this H2. Going over the Comparison page here I noticed Device control, which is the critical component that is responsible for blocking USB for example, is missing. Can you please escalate that, or have any information on when will that be available for v8? Just to emphasize, our organization Can not move away from v6 with device control missing on v8. If there are other channels where I need to sound my concern, please share them with me as well, I'd be happy to go there. Thank you. Edited July 30 by avielc additional channels to go to?
Administrators Marcos 5,455 Posted July 30 Administrators Posted July 30 Device Control as well as Web Control is planned for v8.2 / 8.3 next year. If it is really a critical feature for you, we can only recommend sticking with v6 until then.
avielc 56 Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 Thanks Marcos, Do you know the estimated time for 8.2/8.3 compared to the EOL of v6? From looking at it here: https://support-eol.eset.com/en/policy_business/product_tables.html It would seem that 8.2 would arrive by 2025,Q2. while the EOL for v6 is in 3 days time. Can that be escalated, modified to have some level of support until an adequate replacement will be available? Thanks.
Administrators Solution Marcos 5,455 Posted August 28 Administrators Solution Posted August 28 EOL doesn't mean that we will stop issuing module updates for v6. You can use it until v8.2/8.3 becomes available. SteveA 1
SteveA 0 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I am in the same position than avielc, where Device Control (preventing unallowed usb drive or device by example), is a crucial feature needed by our clients for security compliance. The problem come from the cyber-insurrance company which usually require an actively supported EPP solution, and because v6 is not listed as being compatible with the latest MacOS version 14/15, this also force our clients to keep their machine on a old version of MacOS (alto we understand that the support end date for Ventura technically is Q3/2025). Now that you understand our position and important problem that his is causing, can we just get a clear confirmation that: 1. V6 (latest version of v6 of course), will be supported and available for us to download and install on client machine and that security patches if needed will be made until that v7 or v8 have the device control like we have in v6 ? 2. That V8 will have these feature completed and working on the latest MacOS, before the EOL of MacOS Ventura ? A clear confirmation on these two point would aleviate my worries as I could use the answer and document it for possible audits and futhers compliance requirement ??
Administrators Marcos 5,455 Posted September 2 Administrators Posted September 2 You can use v6 until Device Control is added to v8. As for masOS Ventura support, you could upgrade it to macOS Sonoma which was released last year and Apple should provide security updates until 2026.

Just to confirm, you're saying that v6 is fully compatible with MacOS v14 / Sonoma ? The reason I am asking is that on the system requirement of the v6, it does only list MacOS until v13, so we go by that for compliance, but if you are saying it is compatible with V14, I'll give it a try for sure. Our clients are fine to keep using v6 as suggested and understand/accept that no more feature are to be added to that version, as long as the product remain supported by e-set on the security patches aspect, that would be released may a bad security issue happen or is to be found. Thank Marcos for the quick reply,

Hi Marcos, I hope this help, I hope I did not make the mistake of mixing up the Antivirus product, and the actual Endpoint, now that I am looking at it : https://help.eset.com/eea_mac/7/en-US/whats_new_6vs7.html Edited September 3 by SteveA
