Hi,

I have a question regarding the module for device access control and notifications in the context of interactive alerts.

The background is that we want to enforce a policy to scan all devices upon connection, and this is possible. However, we have noticed that there is no option to exclude CD/DVD media from scanning - in our case, this is problematic because the discs used by employees contain a huge number of small image files, and the scanning process heavily burdens the drive and takes a very long time (up to an hour).

Is there a way to work around this problem? Do you plan to implement differentiated scanning for different media segments (CD/USB) in the future? Is there a possibility to add an exception rule for the antivirus scanner that would simply exclude certain paths (files, folders, or extensions) from media scanning?

Thank you in advance for your response. Best regards,

It's actually USB hard drivers that contain more files that CDs/DVDs because of their much higher capacity. Unfortunately it is not programatically possible to create rules to scan or not scan drives based on the number of files or folders they contain without an adverse effect on the operation time.

Ok, but is it possible to create a rule for pre-scanning media that would skip certain folders or exclude specific file extensions from the scan?

Only these options are available:

The question is what type of files is on the CD/DVD since images and other media files should be scanned quickly, meaning thousands of files in a second or so.

Files with the extension .dcm / .jpg / or without an extension, as we are talking about a program that processes medical imaging files and uses these files in the executable application - which are "locked" during scanning.
