Shade 0 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 New to ESET but it looks like the ability for servers to reboot after patching doesn't exist. What is the suggested way to automate a restart of server. Tasks doesn't seem to allow the reboot command like a client. Suggestions?
Administrators Marcos 5,458 Posted July 13 Administrators Posted July 13 Automatic reboots are usually not desired on servers in general. I would recommend raising a support ticket to let ESET know about your interest in having such feature.
Shade 0 Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 (edited) Manual reboots across hundreds of servers is a waste of time. Why would the ability to not reboot servers at scale be available? Edited July 13 by Shade
ESET Staff miso 1 Posted July 15 ESET Staff Posted July 15 Hello @Shade, could you please clarify more about server reboot problem? Would you like to force OS restart after patching? If the application needs to be closed before patching it is killed by ESET server product (60seconds dialog). If the patch needs OS restart to apply it is automatically restarted by ESET server product (60seconds dialog). But if the patches don't need restart the OS continues to run. Or is the problem the computer restart options settings are missing in VAPM policy for server products? We suppose if admin starts patching task he is aware of possible OS restart and this is done immediately after patching. Maybe the problem is that the client tasks in ESET Protect are same for Endpoint and also for Server products. The server task is task aimed directly to ESET Protect server. Thank you. Miso
