comunic 4
HI all, I just trying the brand new ERA V6 and have succesfully deployed the agent and the new eset endpoint antivirus trought the console. I was trying to deploy other msi package for exemple 7zip but the task always failed, as is it works installing it whith a cmd command line and the /quiet option localy on the machine. Is it a limitation of ERA, to deploy only ESET packages or is their someting i miss to succesfull deploy msi, which should be very helpful ! Thank's for your replies
Former ESET Employees anthonyh 15 Posted February 20, 2015 Former ESET Employees Share Posted February 20, 2015 Technically we are not able to support the installation of 3rd party products through Remote Administrator, but with that being said, are you installing the package using an hxxp:// path or a file:/// path? comunic 4
hello, i totaly agree that eset doesn't provide any support on third party msi installation, but this feature is really important for me ! i tryed using the hxxp:// link as if i installed an eset package. tduffy 2
this is a complete joke that this version doesn't have this. it's a step backwards.

Former ESET Employees anthonyh 15 Posted February 25, 2015 Former ESET Employees Share Posted February 25, 2015 hello, i totaly agree that eset doesn't provide any support on third party msi installation, but this feature is really important for me ! i tryed using the hxxp:// link as if i installed an eset package. So we can figure out where it went wrong in the chain, there are a couple places we can look for the error. On the server, there are two logs, C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Agent\EraAgentApplicationData\Logs\trace.log and C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Server\EraApplicationData\Logs\trace.log On the client, there is just the C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Agent\EraAgentApplicationData\Logs\trace.log. If you can find the error that corresponds with the time stamp, we can go from there. Also, if you could try to download it locally and try to install it using the file:/// path and see if we get different results, that can help us determine if it is a transfer issue or an execution/install handling issue. this is a complete joke that this version doesn't have this. it's a step backwards. It's still there, just a bit different. Now that you are able to install from hxxp:// there are a lot more variables.
comunic 4
i tried both local path and url hxxp://, the result is the same in the log file : 2015-02-25 09:49:21 Error: CSystemConnectorModule [Thread f98]: SoftwareInstallation: Installation command exited with (0x667): (0x667), Argument de la ligne de commande non valide. Consultez le Kit de développement Windows Installer pour une aide détaillée de la ligne de commande (the OS is a french OS) it says that the argument is not good, i just put the /quiet on the command line argument on ERA. the installation with a cmd command run well localy with the c:\xxx.msi /quiet Edited February 25, 2015 by comunic
ESET Moderators Peter Randziak 946 Posted March 4, 2015 ESET Moderators Share Posted March 4, 2015 Hello, There are specified optional command line parameters for the installer. Installation parameters are unique for each installation package of each software. It is no possible to specify msiexec parameters, only properties used by installation package (msi) itself. So in case of deployment of 3.rd party msi packages you need to use it without parameters or use the run command task to start the installation by means of command. P.R. comunic 4
This is a real joke ?! There is a feel to specify the parameters and its not used to give the msi parameters... wow. all msi need parameters to install silently ! or we need to customize the msi...
