ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server 11.0.12011.0 fails to install on Win2012 Std server

Recommended Posts

We got the notification from ESET Protect to install the new version of ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server onto our machines, On this particular server, a Windows Server 2012 Standard, the installer uninstalled the previous version 11.0.12008.0 and tried to install the newest version 11.0.12011.0

However it failed displaying this error: ESET Server Security cannot be installed on your operating system

Now when we try to reinstall even the previous that we know worked, 12008, it also displays the error message. The most recent version that does work is: 10.0.12015.2

With that installed , when we try to reupgrade we get the error.

ESET Server Security requires Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 at minimum (https://help.eset.com/efsw/11.0/en-US/system_requirements.html).

As for ESET Server Security v10, the OS must support Azure Code Signing: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/kb5022661-windows-support-for-the-trusted-signing-formerly-azure-code-signing-program-4b505a31-fa1e-4ea6-85dd-6630229e8ef4.

But it was running fine on version 11.0.12008.0 just a couple of days ago. Did the requirements change between 11.0.12008.0 and 11.0.12011.0 ?

The latest version of ESET Server Security that can be installed on Windows Server 2012 Standard is 10.0.12015.2. There was a bug in the first v11 which allowed installation and it was fixed in the latest v11.

It is necessary to use ESET Server Security v10 as real-time protection in v11 utilizes functionality that is not supported on that OS.
