ESET Online Scanner crashes after updating and before scanning

Recommended Posts

Running the EOS on win 11x64 pro. Every time I tried to run a scan, it crashed during or right after finishing downloading the module updates before the scan started. Tried deleting the whole files and downloading again, but it made no difference. Tried adding exclusions to current security software, or exiting current security software, but the problem is the same.

We were unable to reproduce the crash neither on Windows 10 nor Windows 11.

Please run the following command as an administrator:

reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\ESETOnlineScanner.exe" /f /v DumpType /t REG_DWORD /d 2

Then run ESET Online Scanner and reproduce the crash. WER will show you the path to a generated dump, please supply it for perusal.

Same thing happening here on a Beelink mini computer. Eset shows downloading module updates it reaches 100$ then it repeats the process reaches 100% then starts again but this time the % are wild numbers like 2134% before the app just crashes.

Here is one of countless crashes

I gave up on Eset Online Scanner. This issue has been going on for almost 5 months. I use a couple of other virus scanners instead. I have seen this crashing on probably half a dozen machines

Unfortunately the problem is more complex but we're working on a hotfix that we expect to be available some time soon.
