If you are able to reproduce the crash, carry on as follows:

  • configure Windows to create kernel memory dumps
  • reproduce the crash
  • compress the memory dump and upload it to a safe location (if necessary, I can provide you with access to ESET's ftp server)
  • PM me the download link

Tried Eset 7 on windows 8.1 preview, gives bsod about kernel fault. Had to remove Eset 7 by uninstaller script from safe mode. This is a major problem

V7 beta is currently not compatible with Windows 8.1. The next beta build will fully support it.

Well, that's very interesting, but it doesn't answer my issues. I did as you requested, 10 days have passed, and you don't even bother to answer although it's obvious you read it and answer other members in my thread. Thanks for the support.

It is a BETA product, essentially being used with a beta OS. Did you expect that a beta would have worked perfectly with a Preview Release? There were no questions asked in your post, you simply stated that it caused an issue. I'm sure you aren't the only one with this problem (I experienced this myself). I'm back on v6 for now.

I tried the ESET 7 beta after becoming frustrated with Norton and was pleasantly surprised by how good the ESET user interface is.

I look forward to trying the next v7 beta on Windows 8.1.

Hello,

ESET Smart Security 7 Beta 2 (v7.0.104.0) was released earlier today.

This version contains preliminary support for the Microsoft Windows 8.1 Preview release.

Can you please try that version that and confirm whether it solves the issue for you?

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

This issue will be fixed in the next firewall module build. You can work around it easily by installing v7 from scratch, just make sure the folder c:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Smart Security doesn't exist prior to installing v7.
