USB Check Scanners not accessible

Recommended Posts

I have been troubleshooting and issue with a Bank that is using ESET with device managment.  On Tuesday morning the scanners we inaccessible from applications on the workstations.  They worked Monday, but Tuesday they quit and the error basically would tell us the scanner wasn't available.  I can see the scanner in device manager on the computer so I know it is connecting, but something is blocking communication to the USB device.  We have tried to uninstall ESET, but that hasn't helped.  We eneded up doing a restore back to last week on 2 of the computers to get them working, but today they quit working again.  We have looked in the Device managment log and there isn't anything listed as being blocked.  The teller printers were blocked on Tuesday, but have since been unblocked by adding the USB to the policy.  Is there advanced debugging that can be viewed to try to identify if ESET is causing this issue or are there Registry entries we can review to see what is being blocked or allowed?

If temporarily disabling Device control and rebooting the machine makes a difference, please raise a support ticket. A technical support representative should ask for advanced logs created as follows:

  1. Enable advanced logging under Help and support -> Technical support
  2. Reproduce the issue
  3. Stop logging
  4. Collect logs with ESET Log Collector and supply the generated archive to ESET.
