ESSP FW don't ask for password

Recommended Posts

Hello

I use ESSP with the latest version: 16.2.11. I have set password for settings access and FW is in interactive mode. Before this latest update everytime a new app wanted network permission and set the permission permantly for FW it asked for ESET settings password but now it won't ask for the password anymore.

Have this feature been removed? If not how do I enable this feature?

Any help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

I just got the 16.2.13 update and this issue has not been addressed. Why is this not important? When will it be fixed? Thank you in advance :)

A fix should be included in v17 later this year.

Are you serious?

This has big security impact and it should be fixed ASAP.
Your security team probably have assessed this wrongly.

I am running interactive mode with password protected ESET setup and I am non-admin user in Windows 11.
I am able to handle some firewall exceptions freely, i.e. without prompting any password.
If I am able to do that then anybody can (virus, malware, ...)

V16.2.13 was a hotfix, it was not a new version that could take longer to be released and we had to address the most important issues as soon as possible.

ESET v16 is for home users, ie. it's typically used just by one user or members of a family. As for Endpoint, administrators typically create rules themselves and do not let users to decide what communication should be allowed.
