Scan not working

I have ESET Smart Security on all of my machines and am very happy with the cover it gives me. Howeever I opened a log this morning on my main laptop and it showed a lot of files (Log Scheduled task: Weekly scan) which could not be scanned mainly a lot of data in mmy docs and folders similar to that.

What I would like to know is why this is happening as I don't feel I am that well protected if malware could be lurking within those files which again number in the hundreds. Any help really appreciated.:)

It is normal that even if you run a scheduled scan under the local system account or an on-demand scan as an administrator there will still be plenty of files that are locked and exclusively being used by the operating system. Just disregard the errors. In order to scan 100% of files, you'd need to boot from a different medium which is not normally needed unless you are attempting to remove a persisting active rootkit.
