Problem opening Word documents

After ESET upgraded, I can't open Word documents that come attached to Outlook emails. N.B. I am not at all techy. No jargon please. Pretend I'm 7 years old.

Does the issue go away if you temporarily uninstall ESET and returns as soon as you install the latest version of ESET with default settings?

Have you tried to save them to the computer and then open it. Might be default app has been changed and just needs it changed back to word
