OS updates don't display properly when client is properly patched

We have a reoccurring task to update client machines. We are noticing that when the client is already up to date the console is showing failed even though the client is in an OK state. Could your system receive verbose data from the client and report something other than failed? There is no efficient way to determine if the client task actually did fail. Having hundreds of computers, this is not an efficient workflow for monitoring updates.

Are you referring to OS or ESET product or module updates? Anyways, it is necessary to check the appropriate logs for more information why a particular task failed, e.g. with software installation tasks there can be several reasons for a failure:

- Installation package not found.
- A later version of the Windows Installer Service is required.
- Another version or conflicting product is already installed.
- Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.
- Installation or uninstallation finished successfully, but computer restart is required.
- Task failed - there was an error. You need to look at the Agent trace log and check the return code of the installer.

Specifically, OS updates. When viewing the executions with a fail and selecting details for that specific computer the status is OK which is misleading. Could something like the aforementioned detail be displayed (e.g. OS up to date) instead of failed?

It's either the task delivery or execution which failed. Please raise a support ticket for further investigation of why the update OS tasks are failing in your environment. What OS it on the machines?
