beagle1957 1
Running ESET Smart Security 8 and Quicken Premier 2015. I have HIPS set to Smart Mode. Whenever I start Qucken, I get the following HIPS prompt to allow access to the following: Application type: C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\qw.exe Access type: Delete file Target: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Startup\Billminder.lnk I click on Allow Access and Create Rule. The same HIPS prompt appears again. I click on Allow Access again, and the prompt finally goes away. I have multiple rules for this file in HIPS, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, the twin prompts always appear. I tried switching HIPS to Learning Mode and launched Quicken so ESS would 'remember', but when I re-enable Smart Mode, the prompts come back. Interestingly, there is no Billminder.lnk in the target folder. I have had the Startup folder open in File Explorer before, during and after launching Quicken and the file never appears. Any ideas as to what might be going on? Quicken Error.rtf
Administrators Marcos 3,594 Posted October 31, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 31, 2014 Smart-mode rules have priority over user rules. We'll change this behavior with the next HIPS module release.
