PUA - False positive - Exent's FreeRide Games SDM files

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

ESET Smart Security detects the SDM files available to be downloaded from the www.freeridegames.com website (All SDM files are identical except that each SDM file is named with the name of the game to be downloaded) as a Potentially Unwanted Application and blocks the SDM file download and launch.

We want to clarify that we are not bundling any unwanted software with the game download.

In addition, we want to emphasize the importance of our users being openly notified on both the website pages and the EULA regarding the nature of our ads-based service.

You are one of the market-leading malware detection and prevention platforms, and your PUA detection significantly impacts our user acquisition activities.

We have already submitted multiple requests for whitelisting to samples@eset.com but never received a reply.

We would be happy to provide further details to clarify and resolve this situation.

Can someone please take a look at it?

Thank you.

Exent PUA detection is correct, it's not a false positive. PUA detection is optional and users must decide if they want to detect PUAs or not. This KB explains what PUAs are: https://support.eset.com/en/kb2629

Since this forum is not a channel for disputing detections, we'll draw this topic to a close.
