Patch 16
Is it possible to set for one Windows user interactive firewall mode and for others policy mode? I'm using Eset Smart Security 7 on Windows 7 Home. I assume you mean if user A is logged onto their account, ESET works in interactive mode but if user B is logged onto their account on the same computer, ESET works in policy mode. I do not think that is going to work as the software firewall filters transmissions over the computer commuinication channels, not users comminicating task. Including system tasks and no application, thus working at a higher level than the subset of tasks a particular user is currently running. Probably the best you can do is leave the computer in policy mode most of the time. When user A logs on to the computer they change ESET to interactive mode and change it back when loggin off (or at least when updating ESET). rugk 397
Nice idea, but @Patch explained it quite well. And keep in mind that changing the firewall mode requires administrator privileges. Another hint: You can create different profiles for the firewall, so the user can switch them if he wants. However this profiles change what firewall rules are used by ESS, they do not change the entire firewall mode.
Kyllan 0
Yes Patch, that's what I meant. I thought it's possible, because firewall would filter connections in the same manner for all users, just would not ask non-administrator users to add new rules - it would simply block unknown connections. I thought it's a matter of GUI. Anyway, thanks you for your answers. Regards.
