startup programs gone

I've been quite happy customer of v4 business version. Today I decided to test v5, despite some controversial comments about it. I installed it on top of v4. After first reboot my startup programs are gone, but in a strange way. For example, Skype is not in process list at all, and it's startup entry is gone. Some programs are visible in process list, but no visible icon.

I've tried to disable HIPS, didn't help.

Winxp sp3, endpoint v5.0.2214.4.

Hi,

how many programs did you actually have in startup?

can you post your version of your modules? right click, About box (you can select whole list and copy it with Ctrl-A, followed by Ctrl-C)

also, check Tools-> Log files, and take a look if there is something in "Detected threats"

Nothing in detected log.

On the other hand, now I'm not sure that NOD did this :) I just noticed that I havent rebooted my PC for ~3 weeks, so it's possible that during that time something else played with my programs, it's just I rebooted after NOD upgrade.

Should NOD log such behaviour?

I don't think it will log if it changed any entries, but OTOH it is highly unlikely, that it changed any entries if there weren't detected any threats in the meantime.

Also you might consider doing some (possibly regular) sysinspector snapshots (Tools -> Eset SysInspector), to track the changes in system.

(Keep in mind it takes some time, to do one, but it's invaluable when installing new software :))
