Salem 0
So Windows 10 is now in developer preview. I was wondering when those of us who have upgraded will get official support for ESET? Currently HIPS appears to be broken, and will not enable despite several attempts to do so. Thanks!
rugk 397
Please keep in mind that Windows 10 is only a Technical Preview. So it's a "very early build", it may contain bugs and so on. It should never be used on a computer that have to run stable. (also not your primarily personal computer!) But you sound like you "upgraded" to Windows 10 and installed ESET to be protected. But if you're using a Beta (OS or ESET software running on it) there always will be many errors! So if you're doing this only for testing it's ok, but you have no guarantee at all that the OS and the software on it works like you expected! And as a consequence of this I think you won't get support (if you have troubles) from ESET Customer Care, because these troubles are expected in Betas. That's only my idea, so maybe ESET will say something else.
Marcus Corbacho 0
I'm an enthusiast in terms of software news, so I installed the latest version of Windows (10 Technical Preview) for testing. After installed ESET SS 8.0.301.0, it has an error of driver communication resulting in HIPS desabled...
SweX 871
Hello, I think it would be good to keep the discussion about ESET and Win 10 TP in one thread to have all the info at one place: https://forum.eset.com/topic/3342-any-plan-to-make-hips-compatible-with-windows-10-tech-preview/
szilvaizsolt 0
Does Smart Security work with the current version of Windows 10 now? I would install Windows 10 if I could use Smart Security with it.

Yes it works, but you could enable pre-release updates in ESS so you get new modules faster incase ESET needs to update some modules to stay compatible after a new Win 10 build is released. Zxx 0
HIPS went bonkers this morning. Booted the Win 10 machine and started getting an endless, continuous stream of pop ups asking to allow/deny access to files, etc. Tried clicking allow and the popups would continue faster than I could click the mouse button. I tried disabling HIPS and suddenly had a half dozen windows open and the computer slowed to a snails pace. Reboots only started the cycle all over again. I eventually was able to get the change/uninstall option opened and selected the option to uninstall NOD32. The status bar reached about 60% and froze. I started clicking the allow buttons on the popups that kept appearing and after probably a hundred or so the uninstall routine completed. Prior to this morning the HIPS update had been working OK and I was experiencing no issues. I haven't reinstalled NOD32 yet. Anybody else run into this issue? SweX 871
Well Windows 10049 is out and HIPS is not working again. HIPS support module: 1167 (20150320).....Is the latest module update. I assume they'll release an update to support the latest Win 10 build ASAP as usual. Edited March 31, 2015 by SweX
ken1943 22
You should only be running 10 on another drive or virtual machine where you can test programs and not be complaining about problems. 10 is a beta. You just have to wait until programs "catch up" to 10 at their own pace. Complain about 10 and nothing else.
gitrman 0
Hey Ken I can mention that HIPS is not working. I don't think that's complaining. Eset is about the only antivirus that is even working with 10. So, cheers to ESET. Does that help Ken?
markjrenna 0
There are other AV's working with Windows 10. I tried a few. They need to get HIPS working faster under the W10 beta build. I'm a paying customer. And the customer is always right.
ken1943 22
We go through this with every new version of Windows. Newsgroups have so many questions who nobody has the correct answer. Happy to see ESET does have a beta out, but questions about it shoud be in a BETA forum.

Drunken-knight 0
We've got an unexpected problem when trying to install smart security in Windows 10. In my particular case system had ESS 7 (forgot exactly) inslalled on Win7. Win7 was updated to Win10 and ESS disappeared. So I turned off Windows Endpoint protection and win firewall via gpedit.msc and updated ESS to latest avialable version. Everything looked ok, ESET started, updated signatures, scanned computer. After reload error code: "IRQL LEVEL LESS OR EQUAL" appeared and windows failed to recover. I've tried to load system in safe mode with different parameters, but it failed to start, the only option that works is cmd.exe. What should I do? Administrators Marcos 5,290 Posted October 7, 2015 Administrators Share Posted October 7, 2015 Please configure Windows to generate complete memory dumps (if possible to start Windows in safe mode) as per the instructions at hxxp://support.eset.com/kb380/. When the system crashes, a memory dump will be created. Compress it, upload it to a safe location and pm me the download link.
