BenoitR 1
Hello, The numeric keypad on Dell PCs is non-functional. Instead of numbers, it uses the characters of the normal keyboard. Example: for the number 1, the displayed character is "&". The bios is up to date. Windows Bitlocker does support the numeric keypad correctly. Thank you
ESET Staff Kstainton 11 Posted May 18 ESET Staff Share Posted May 18 (edited) Hi @BenoitR, What happens if when on the EEE/EFDE Pre-boot Login Screen you use the F2 key to change the Keyboard Map in the bottom right to BIOS and try again? Based on the information you have provided, this should allow it to work as you expect. Thank you. Kieran Edited May 18 by Kstainton
BenoitR 1
Great, it works Too bad the support did not give me this manipulation. Is it possible to deploy with default Bios keyboard setting? Thank you
ESET Staff Kstainton 11 Posted May 19 ESET Staff Share Posted May 19 (edited) Hi @BenoitR, I am afraid is it not possible to default BIOS as their Bootloader Keyboard on deployment, but once a user has set it to BIOS and logged in once, it will continue to use it for every reboot unless changed to another Keyboard Map. Thank you. Kieran Edited May 19 by Kstainton

ReedReems 0
Here is the issue. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705\9400. Only the number 5 and 6 keys work, 1-4 and 7-0 do not. All other keys work on the key pad. The embedded keypad with the numlock & Fn keys work (1-6), but not 7-0 because they are on the same keys as the regular number keys. All keys on the on-screen keyboard work as does a USB attached keyboard. I upgraded the operating system from XP to Win 7 (32-bit) with clean install. It was during the install I noticed the number keys not working. I ordered a new keyboard and installed it - same problem. I uninstalled the 2 keyboard drivers (Standard PS/2 Keyboard) and re-booted. Windows installed the same drivers again (same name & version) - did not fix problem. Seems to be a driver issue. I am looking for a VISTA 32-bit or XP 32-bit driver to see if that will work. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS or experienced a similar issue? Edited June 16 by ReedReems
ESET Staff Kstainton 11 Posted June 16 ESET Staff Share Posted June 16 (edited) Hi @ReedReems, Thank you for your message. In that case I would be asking you the same question as I did to Benoit, what happens if when on the EEE/EFDE Pre-boot Login Screen you use the F2 key to change the Keyboard Map in the bottom right to BIOS and try again? I am interested to see if there is different behavior here to Benoits' report or if it is in fact the exact same issue. Thank you.
