Win32/Infatica.C detection from Dell Support Assist software

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just received an alert about a detection on a Dell laptop : Win32/Infatica.C

Infatica is a peer-to-peer proxy service, but what looks strange to me is that the detection occurred when an executable from Dell software Support Assist Agent called infatica Dll : C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\SRE\SRE.exe

Dell support Assist is installed by default on every Dell computers, a least before a complete reinstall.

Anybody got a message like this recently ?

Regards.

Dell software Support Assist Agent

This software has had security issues associated with it for some time: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/dell-supportassist-bugs-put-over-30-million-pcs-at-risk/ .

Ensure you have applied the latest vendor patches for it: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000191057/dsa-2021-163-dell-supportassist-client-consumer-security-update-for-two-vulnerabilities
