A lot of files being sent to ESET for analysis

Recommended Posts

Since yesterday, we have seen nothing but alerts about random files being sent to ESET for analysis and it's still on-going. Was there a new engine update that is causing this? Any idea if a new update will be pushed to fix this?

This was a problem with VSD 8412, fixed in VSD 8413 issued more than 24 hours ago. To deny submission of the files, deselect them and confirm it by clicking Submit.

Seems like every client that performs an update to the latest 8418 is still submitting files for analysis. Do computers need a restart to resolve this issue?

Just sent Marcos a screenshot demonstrating ongoing issues.

Hello Geosoft,

the files could be in cache marked for submission.

Is it causing you any serious trouble?

I don't think that's it, because it's different files between updates. It's causing a lot of complaints and concerns as clients are seeing these pop-ups almost hourly. It's almost explicitly dll files, but not always.

That's because the files got into cache yesterday. The users can choose whether to submit them or not, afterwards they won't be prompted again. Alternatively they can flush ThreatSense.Net cache, set TS.Net not to ask before submitting files or disable file submission completely.
