Eset Smart Security And Eset Nod32 Antivirus 8 Beta Available

Recommended Posts

The only GUI change I was hoping for was an "Update" button/link on the right click menu of the tray icon. As for more features, I for one do not want the kitchen sink in the NOD32 product. IMO, kitchen sinks belong in suite type products (which I avoid).

I Send to Support

Hello, I installed the new beta version of ESET, loved the news but I think they should add a few things, not only as ADD BETTER few mechanisms. Let\'s move on to the problems

- Scanning and detection in Memory, needs to improve, and they DETECTING malware yes .. But as I said needs to improve to detect cleaning .. He tries to clean up, but in turn is unsuccessful .. And then comes again the warning that a threat has been detected in Memory .. and I give clean the virus, it can not clear when this virus have enabled the persistence .. Some viruses when the process is closed it tries to inject into another process and re-open virus that is where this mechanism fails, it does not completely clean the malware .. Need to be improved removal ..  Have to improve

- You should create a tab on the menu, say Monitor (summary), where we could see the state of the computer connections, how many were blocked malware or exploits, is basically a statistical entire computer, where everything boils down to 3 things. Network, CPU and Processes is very useful .. So the user can analyze the stats of your computer and see if somethings wrong and goes on your system. Excellent function to add

-. Another mechanism that should be added is Inspection DLL files .. Yes the engine analyzes the time of this DLL on your computer, and compares with other cloud customers .. Yes ESET ESET have protection via the cloud when the client is infected, allows the threat dll is detected much faster then what this tool would do is examine our files., and whether the PC\'s other customers also exists and whether it is safe and how many people have these dll\'s the pc .. and if a. dll is detected but few customers have, could be renamed as \"unknown\" is really useful, also have other antivirus .. this is very useful - Security increases much more!

- Another function was to add blocking the webcam, many hackers love to see who is behind the computer, and so remote from them in programs, they start our webcam to see who is behind her computer, this tool warned that such a program would access the webcam and blocking us or we permetia we know if we could .. and there is a list to which you could add trusted programs like Skype, Facebook and other popular programs, others were detected and neutralized by that you give your permission to do the same or allow access to your webcam. ITS VERY IMPORTANT PRIVACY!

Blocked malicious injections in services
, in my view, just did a test and this ESET vulnerable to injection of malware on Windows services, it would be nice to do something to enhance or block this type of injection, but not only because the malware installs itself in Windows processes, as the most advanced malware hide in the Windows services, it is this .. what ESET have to see, all antivirus staying with an eye on processes, but the most advanced malware techniques with more "professional" inject in Windows Services, it must find a way to block it!

Here are the proof of how the eset is vulnerable.

have to improve in that are red.
I hope to add these tools is very helpful.

I have also something imo important. If you make a scan and something is found, please inform the user directly what it is,not first on the end of scanning. Also when it is harmless like PUP's etc.

Emsisoft did that very good.

2 new protection capabilities? Nope only one, Exploit already exists and never seen it working. i trust more in EMET than ESET Exploit blocker.

Version 8 = Joke of the year.

Thanks for the big innovation.

Please elaborate more on this and supply us with malware that cannot be cleaned when detected. Maybe it exists only in memory but not anywhere on the disk and thus cleaning failed.

Hello,

There are a some changes to the user interface, mostly geared towards displaying information about status more clearly, as well as the online help. Keep in mind, though, that ESET continually updates its products to provide the best detection, with most of these changes being "under the hood," e.g., not visible in the user interface.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

  1. Will there be more features added to v8 or just the 2 mentioned above? I'm sure they'll be improvements.

Hello,

I have not noticed any performance issues whatsoever, but I've only installed this build on a few systems so far.  If you come across some kind of slowdown, please post a separate message with step-by-step details on how to reproduce it for ESET's engineers..

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

Is it still as heavy as V7?? is ESET considering regaining the crown of being the lightest/most effective AV again like they did in v2, v3, and v4?

siljaline, my Canadian buddy tipped me off to it last night and I installed it and it seems fine.

I haven't yet studied all the posts here but how are we informed with the beta updates? Is it done by the program itself?

OMG! It's so funny! Nothing new in the "new" version! GUI is the same from version 3 / 2007 / till now. ESET is NOTHING like it used to be in the past! Now your team is so greedy. You always offend other AV vendors but they make big improvements to their products each year, not like you. It's a shame!

You want GUI changes? Why? How much time do you spend looking at the ESET GUI? I hardly ever see the GUI unless there's a problem or I'm making changes to the firewall rules. It scans automatically, updates automatically, all silently, and notifies me if there are issues or updates.

In my opinion ESET is making improvements where it counts. I don't want ESET engineers to waste their time on something as useless as a new and shiny GUI. I don't need a new hood ornament Protection is what I want and what I pay for and  ESET provides that very well.

If you want I can easily digg up change logs from other vendors and you can see what's

new in their version(except the GUI)?

Here is one:

New in this version...

For users of the paid version, the virus database update period was shortened to 2 hours.

Introducing new graphics of main user interface.

All user settings will be preserved after program upgrade to version 2015.

Exacly ESET does not change the GUI each year like 50% of the other vendors do.

FYI, Nope it's not exactly the same as it was in V3, there have been a couple minor changes to the GUI since then.

Also, the whole product is developed in-house and no feature has been licensed of some other company to be implemented as a new feature! But you probably don't know what that means.

Just to give my opinion on the performance of the system with NOD32.

Here I have a performance drop using the Samsung EVO 500GB SSD with NOD32 version 7 and real-time protection enabled.

Protection Enabled

Protection Disabled

So there really is a drop in performance.

Installed over version 7 (Eset recommends a clean install) and everything is working fine. The only glitch I encountered was during the install process. For some reason Windows Defender started. I turned it off again and everything is fine. Thanks Eset for the good work. It is very much appreciated.

Did you run a first time scan on this SSD before running that benchmark ? And are you using V8 ??

Strange thing for me was that my benchmark actually slowed down when protection disabled

Exploit already exists and never seen it working.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you keep everything in your computer up-to-date. And does not use Java unless you have to.

. i trust more in EMET than ESET Exploit blocker.

AFAIK, They work differently and can't really be compared against each other.

Version 8 = Joke of the year.

...though the year is not over yet so i'm sure something worse will show up.

It kind of already work like that behind the curtains, and LiveGrid can also detect and block stuff in real-time. Then you will see a notification saying "Blocked object" or "Suspicious object blocked" if I remember correctly.

Not sure, but if it is not available as an in-product upgrade, then you should be able to install Beta 2 whenever it is released over Beta 1 unless we are recommended not to do so. And ESET will of course post links and details about Beta 2 here on the forum when it is time.

I'm very happy to read Eset are focused on better/new protection features with ESS v8 and not adding superfluous bells and whistles. Installed the beta over the top of version 7 without an issue; Windows 8.1 decided to activate Windows Defender for a tiny period which may just be a Windows 'thing' as no AV is installed whilst ESS v7 is removed and v8 is installed.

Yes why not?

I read the post like he does not agree with the people that expected to see "more", like the examples he lists in the post, I figure he does NOT want any of that in the product. Please tell me i'm right otherwise I have to figure out how to unkudo myself.
