gui of Eset NOD32 for Linux does not start

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I installed ESET NOD32 for Linux (eset_nod32av_64bit_de.linux).

I am running: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and 5.8.0-50-generic

The installation process went well. After the restart ESET NOD32 should start automatically to activate ESET NOD32. But ESET NOD32 does not start automatically. I tried the execution of "/opt/eset/esets/bin/esets_gui" in the terminal. The result is the message "Another process esets_gui already running".

I stopped the process by execution of "killall esets_gui". When executing "/opt/eset/esets/bin/esets_gui" again, the cursor in the terminal blinks, but no gui shows up. The process esets_gui is running though.

The installation of ESET NOD32 for Linux on an 12 years old laptop with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS works fine.

I had a similar issue with a different installation of another program (with quirkos) where the gui did not show up while it worked on the old laptop. I have no idea where to look at. Maybe it has something to do with a graphic driver? What can I do or look at?

Thank you, André

Thank you, yes, I have installed it. It does not change the behaviour. Even after a restart the gui is not displayed.

Don't know what the problem could be. After installing libappindicator1 the ESET icon appears in the right-hand upper corner of the screen.

You could open a support ticket with your local ESET distributor.

Thank you, the screenshot you sent makes it clear what is missing. I installed it on an old linux-laptop, there it works fine. I will contact the local ESET distributor.
