File Server Offline Update Issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have installed the following versions to a windows server 2016:

ESET Management Agent :  7.2.1266

ESET File Server :  7.2.12004

Unfortunately, I can't proceed and update directly from the web soo If I try to update from a share folder I am getting "Product Update Failed" Invalid digital signature.

I tried to clear update cache, reinstall both agent and file server but the status remains the same.

The update folder is from a mirror Eset file server, with previous version 6.5 everything works fine no issue when updating.

How do you create the mirror? With EFSW or using the Mirror tool? Do you access mirrored update files via http?

Instead of using the mirror I'd recommend using the HTTP Proxy which will not only save a lot of traffic but clients will also take advantage of LiveGrid and streamed updates which would enable them to respond quickly to newly emerging threats.

Dear Marcos,

Thank you for your prompt response,

Mirror files are created by EFSW, unfortunately i can't access directly by HTTP proxy only through file transfer procedure.

Http is activated to mirror setup, for security reason we have isolate our server and we only copy the mirror files for the update.

The path to the update server is the name of the local share folder that we copy inside the update files.

I manage to update with the offline mirror file and also tested updated throught proxy.

In both cases module and definitions updated but i am still geting Product update failed invalid digital certificate

If you update from a mirror, you should disable program updates since they would require a local repository to be created using the mirror tool.

If you update via http proxy, it could be that access to ESET's repository is blocked by the firewall or proxy for instance. Please enable advanced update engine and network logging in the adv. setup -> tools -> diagnostics, run update to reproduce the error, disable logging, collect logs with ESET Log Collector and upload the generated archive here.

Dear Marco ,

Thank you, both issues resolved.

Regarding the share folder update i disabled program update and the issue resolved no invalid digital signature.

Regarding proxy update i disable proxy setting from connection and invalid digital signature disappear.

Just to mention that in order to disable program update i had to do it two times in order to disappear the error.

If you don't use multiple chained proxy servers, using the ESET HTTP proxy should not cause any issues since it doesn't alter downloaded data. Using the http proxy is a preferred method of updating machines without a direct connection to the Internet; unlike update from a mirror it would allow for using LiveGrid and streamed updates and also automatic program updates that will be possible as of Endpoint v8 soon.

In case you would like to troubleshoot the error message shown when program updates are enabled and ESET configured to update via http proxy, feel free to provide the requested logs.

Dear Mr. Marcos,

This server has no internet connection so no access to repository.eset.com, we proceed and update only from share folder.

How can i disable this communication in order to avoid similar notifications?

Thank you.
