Uninstall Issue

Dear Eset,

There has been some uninstall issues with eset internet security recently. Even after an uninstall and a reboot the process ekrn.exe continues to run in the pc. Please verify the screenshots attached herewith. And the subsequent reinstall of Eset Internet Security fails.

So i had to download the eset uninstaller tool  and use it in safe mode to remove the remnants. Only then the further re installation succeeds.

I would like Eset to look into it.

Are you able to reproduce the issue after reinstallation? If not, unfortunately there's nothing we could do.

Yes, This happens again and again. I tested it by reinstalling and uninstalling EIS again.

This would be indicative of ekrn.exe service not being uninstalled for some reason.

After uninstall and reboot, open Control Panel -> Services and check if "Eset Service" still exists. If not, then via regedit.exe check if ekrn service still exists in the registry corresponding HKLM Services area.

There also have been past forum postings were it was noted that somehow multiple Eset versions were installed.

This is one reason it is noted in the Eset Uninstaller tool documentation that it should be run multiple times to ensure all existing Eset versions/remnants be fully removed.
