The application uses the eicar test file to test if real-time protection works. Haven't tried to install the app myself but it's quite likely that the whole application is detected as FakeEICAR.

My advice is if you want to use Eicar for testing, use the various downloads from the official Eicar web site: https://www.eicar.org/?page_id=3950 , to do so.

The Google store test download clearly states it contains ads.
