ESMC OVA - SMTP configuration does not work

Hi guys!.

I have tried to configure the SMTP server but it has not worked in any way, not with google or microsoft accounts or any, I have verified many times that the configuration of each one is fine, but it still does not work:

I have tried to see if the OVA communicates with the smtp and if it does:

How can i fix this?

There seems to be two different issues reported in trace log. First one is related to DNS resolved -> it seems that hostname used as SMTP server cannot be resolved to IP addresses -> this might indicate hostname was incorrect or there is some DNS configuration issues. I would recommend to check directly from terminal, whether target SMTP server can be "pinged".

There seems to be also other issue reported, this one seems to be more relevant, but the crucial part is not visible on provided screenshot, so I cannot provide any hints ...

Hi Martin,

You can see the full log in the attachment. Im going to change DNS configuration on the VM. But as you can see the VM can resolved by ping the SMTP address: image.png.371f8ee0de2c093d1d0c111c380dda2c.png

Unfortunately error is not very descriptive and I have not seen such previously. It is actually:

where quoted part after "response: " is actually what SMTP server responded, so communication with SMTP server seems to work, but server is rejecting message. One part of that messages, that seems to be some internal error, mentions something like "Cannot submit message" so I would double check that used account is properly configured to send emails, and possibly also recipient email is correct.

To discard I have tried to put my personal Outlook.com account but the result is the same. Could the problem be with all Microsoft accounts? or with the OVA and Microsoft accounts ?.

By the way I tried with a Google account and that account didn't work either, but I didn't want to mention it because when pinging smtp.gmail.com from the terminal, the console could not reach that address.

What solution would you say that I can offer my client?
