Version 13.2.15.0 Update causes Outlook Add-in Problem

Recommended Posts

I've been having occasional startup problems with Outlook for Microsoft 365 since the 13.2.15.0 update (a few days ago). Today it wouldn't open unless using Safe Mode.

I disabled the Eset Addin for Outlook. Now it started right away.

I'm using Internet Security V13.2.15.0 on Windows 10 Pro 1910. Also recently installed KB4560960 - the 2020-06 update for 1909,

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Thanks!

There have been some problem with Outlook 2019 updates recently, not sure if it also concerns Outlook 365:

Thanks for the link.

I installed Win 10 1909 Cumulative update yesterday. I have 2019 Home and Office installed. It updated a few days back. So far, no issues with Office. However, I don't use Outlook and use of Eset plug-in is N/A as such.

-EDT- Looks like it was Outlook exclusively that was borked and possibly only on Win 10 2004: https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-says-outlook-on-the-desktop-is-down-due-to-some-recent-updates .

Stay away from Win 10 2004 as if it was the plague.

I also "might have spoken to soon." Just checked my Temp directory and there was a MS Word diagnostics file there I have never seen previously. Note that Word didn't crash when I was using it. Also strange is previous files are now showing the "Active Content" disabled warning; even if they don't contain any active content.

Just to let people know, my Outlook is working fine still without the ESET addin.

I have raised the issue with ESET support.

We will see what they suggest. May take a while for them to respond,

Looks like a bit of a hit or a miss with the bug as i don't have any of the issues that anyone is talking about in various places (when using outlook 2019). What i did notice for a few weeks was that microsoft were having problems with either delays in emails being received or they were being queued up for a few days and all arriving at once.

Probably lots going on behind the scenes with spam bots and fraudulent emails over this corona period.

ESET Support suggests I uninstall and re-install. I will re update this thread if that doesn't fix my problem.

Outlook went down for four hours Wednesday. What happened?

The version of Outlook that runs on Windows PCs suddenly stopped working worldwide on Wednesday. The outage wasn’t caused by a bad patch. It wasn’t restored by an update. Microsoft isn’t saying much, but there’s a plausible explanation - and it’s disconcerting.
