uninstall from commandline if password set

Recommended Posts

If you set a password to protect client GUI this also requires a password for uninstall.

Is there a way to uninstall the client from command line unattended then?

We found that from command line you can uninstall the agent even if a password is set but this fails for AV.

Would be nice if password check would be skipped altogether if uninstall is done from SYSTEM account.

It's not supported for security reasons. Otherwise malware or attackers could remove AV protection easily.

But the same is true if I don't set a password altogether.

So we only want to protect the GUI for changes but not from uninstalling (which requires admin privileges anyway).

We really much like how this was solved in the solution we used previously. There were two check boxes. "Password required for accessing GUI" and "password required for uninstall"

Is it possible to pass the password as parameter to the uninstall command as last resort?

Just checked and this works.

Thanks for the hint.
