r1man 3 Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 I guess the only way to make a setting to do a manual update instead of automatic update after each system startup, is to change this setting in the screenshot below? Thanks.
Administrators Marcos 5,725 Posted July 11, 2020 Administrators Posted July 11, 2020 Correct. However, I don't see any good reason for not updating modules automatically. r1man 1
itman 1,920 Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 I will also add that in-product updating is always a more secure update method that manual updating; contrary to popular belief. Manual updating opens one up to a phishing attack. A recent example is the WastedLocker ransomware that deployed a fake Google Chrome update request. r1man 1
r1man 3 Posted July 12, 2020 Author Posted July 12, 2020 In case of no internet connection or connection failure, ESET will try to run the automatic update later again, right?

JitzyJT 1 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) What's the update frequency for ESET to update it's module? It's been 4 hours since it last updated the signatures. Is this normal? I thought the frequency was every hour or two? Edited August 8, 2020 by JitzyJT

About 6 hours during weekends. Anyways, streamed updates coupled with the LiveGrid reputation system ensure receiving newly added detections every few minutes. JitzyJT 1

Thank you @Marcos So it's about every 6hrs during weekends for signature updates? What about during Mon-Fri?
